Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is PRP Therapy Along With Orthotics Advisable For Plantar Fasciitis?
Using orthotics that were prescribed by a podiatrist for about 6 weeks now with not much improvement. Have an appointment this Friday for PRP. The podiatrist is against it but I m very desesperate and want to try. I ve had plantar fasciitis for about 1 year now and podiatrist says orthotics alone will fix the problem.
Yes, it can be effective therapy along with orthotics. PRP is derived from autologous blood and contains high concentrations of growth factors necessary for tissue healing and hence it is commonly prescribed to treat torn tendons, tendinitis, muscle injuries, arthritis-related pain, and joint injuries.
It can be taken while using the orthotics however it may take at least 2 months for complete resolution of symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
