Is Primolut Taken During Pregnancy Harmful To Fetus?
Hi I am 21 weeks today and have taken premolute injection almost 5 times every week. I was three month pregnant and had spotting and dr told me to take it, which I was overseas now I am back home my dr is saying my pelvic is short I may have a premature baby but I already have 2 full term baby before this one, I am so confuse and stress if I did hurt my baby by taking this injection? Pls help
Fortunately, use of progesterone in pregnancy has no known side effects. It is almost a safe injections. It may cause only a pain, soreness or redness at the site of injection which is transient and goes by itself. A very rare side effect, with a long term use of progesterone in very high doses may cause a side effect of adrenal hyperplasia.
Rarely an added side effect of clot formation may be there. For this you should consult your doctor at once if you:
* Suddenly develop swelling and pain in one of your leg
* Suddenly develop redness in part of one leg or suddenly develop shortness of breath or dyspnea
However, no known side effect of like short pelvis etc., is known with this injection.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
