I havery 6 month old baby ... 2months after my delivery I got my mens us..and it was scanty and stopped in a week ..but this time my periods prolonged for 15 days and associated with clots. Am taking regesterone first 10mg tid×2days then bid for 2days then 5mg od continuing for 17 days ..now my periods stopped ..and am on tablets . .is this safe for my baby and is this have contraceptive effect.?
Hello dear welcome to Ask a doctor service. I reviewed the question and here is my advice. Regestrone 5mg Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.Nonhormonal contraceptives are preferred in breastfeeding women, especially during the first 4 weeks postpartum. Hope I have answered the question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
