Hello,

The doctor has asked you to take thyroid medication in pregnancy as hypothyroidism is common in pregnancy due to physiological changes in the thyroid binding proteins in blood. It usually resolves post-delivery. As you continued to take thyroid medication your thyroid hormone levels in body has increased and now you are in a hyperthyroid state.

You have to stop your thyroid medication now and repeat thyroid function tests after 1 month. It will return to normal on its own. If TSH continues to be high you have to be started on anti-thyroid medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Meera Rajeev
