Hi,
No, they are not the same.
1.
Tetanus toxoid (TT) is a
vaccine used to immunize a person against tetanus. It is also available as a component of combined diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus (
DPT) vaccine or diptheria-tetanus (DT) vaccine forimmunization of children and tetanus-diphtheria (Td) vaccine for adults.
It is a modified form of toxin produced by the bacteria which does not cause harm but still recognized by human immune system so that when you receive an immunization with tetanus toxoid, your immune system makes
antibodies that will protect you against future exposures to tetanus.
2. Whereas Tetanus immune
globulin (Anti tetanus serum) is a solution of purified antibodies prepared from horse serum and is used for both prevention and treatment of tetanus.
It provides faster defense against tetanus. It is given immediately as prophylaxis to the persons at risk with infected wounds, wounds contaminated with soil or mud, deep or punctured wounds and wounds with devitalizing tissue damages.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
