Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Tetanus Injection Advisable For The Burnt Wound And Blisters?
I got 2nd degree burns on arm from hot water.now blisters are coming up on the burned skin.i applied burnol on it.its been 3 days after the incident and blisters are still forming on the skin.should i consult the doctor or should i take tetanus injection(i got tetanus injection 3 years back)
Tetanus prophylaxis would be needed if you did not have a tetanus vaccine in the last five years. Because you had a tetanus vaccine 3 years ago, you do not need to have a tetanus vaccine or immunoglobulin now.
Meanwhile, you may need to consult the doctor to check if the burn is healing well and if certain measures are needed to make sure it heals with less scaring (making sure there is no infection and treating the infection if it is present).
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
