Hi........... My wife was diagonosed with uterine TB. She was prescribed with 2 months AKT-4 followed by AKT-3 course for 4 months. Also, Udiliv 300 mg was prescribed as well. Though, she didn't have any abnormality in liver tests. Can you please tell why was Udiliv prescribed?
Also, now my wife is pregnant. The 2 month course for TB treatment is over and the 4 month course is on. The Udiliv dosage has been changed to 150mg X 2 times. Please tell why this change....
Udiliv protects the liver which helps metabolize all the medications in ones system. As the anti-tuberculat regimen is a little tough on the system, we have to make sure the liver is not harmed in any way. The udiliv dose was doubled once realized that you are pregnant because we need to make sure the medication is well metabolized and prevent it from any harm and stress that pregnancy might already add to it.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
