Is Veltam The Right Medication For Frequent Urination Post Prostate Surgery?
Iam 70 + diabetic tupe 2 i.e insuline dependent , operated for prostate in July 2006 after that there appears some urination problem the Dr priscribed Valtam at bed time only one tab. I have continued taking the said tab. Now I heve to get up twice for urination in night. Earlier with same medicine I had good sleep and did not get even for once. My quarry is this should I continue or stop taknig this medicine. I had benine prostate .
Usually alpha blockers as veltam would only response in terms of prostate enlargement as recurrence in case of operation of prostate gland. But as per my surgical experience, frequency and urgency of urination after prostate surgery is many times related to stricture urethra in terms of narrowing at prostatic fossa after surgery. Kindly discuss the need of diagnostic ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis with or without cystoscopy with your urosurgeon for best possible management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
