Is A BP Reading Of 117/61 When On Medication A Cause Of Concern?

Is it okay if my blood pressure is 117 over 61. I am 46 yold and have had a carotid artery approx 4 weeks ago and after an MRI I was found to have had 3 minor strokes. My blood pressure use to err on the side of 130 over 90. I am now on blood pressure medication. Should I consult my doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Short answer: Yes, you should see your doctor.

Deatiled answer:

Dear,

You have a recent intervetion and 3 transient ischemic attacks (minor strokes), so your optimal blood pressure is 130/80 mmHg. Blood pressure 117/61 is a little bit low, so I do recommend to decrease the dose of your prescription for blood pressure, so please see your doctor. Don't forget to measure the blood pressure regurarly.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions. Wishing you good health.
