Is A TPO Reading Of 3,662 A Cause For Concern?
I had a TPO done. Never had any thyroid problems but I am 61 and a new widow and I have a 41 year old social needs child so I try to take care of myself. I went to doctor for complete checkup. Everything was ok except my TPO which is supposed to be between 0-59 (so th nurse said) and mine was 3,662. Said I needed to see an endocrinologist. I was just wondering after doing some research if that is dangerously high and what are the results without treatment. Thx.

TPO is one of the antigens/proteins that can cause damage to the thyroid after the body reacts and forms proteins called antibodies that react to the TPO. It would be best to be seen and treatment. There are medications that can effectively treat thyroid diseases.
