Is A Black And Blue Blood Blister Under My Toenail Related To Melanoma?

I noticed what appeared to be a balck and blue blood blister under my toenail about 2 months ago.. Do not recall any injuries although it may be possible.. Went to the dermatologist and was told to wait 3-6 months and if no changes, to come back as it may be start of melanoma.. Should I get a biopsy now to ensure it isn't melanoma?
