Is A Delayed Cycle With Previous Spotting Due To A Pregnancy?
Hi!! I'm a 26 year old woman with no children. My husband and I have been trying to conceive since 2004. I had 2 abortions in 2002(1) & 2003(1) because of my birth control failing. My last Dr put me on the Clomid regiment starting out at 50 mg. Everytime my cycle would start, she would increase over a period of 6 months. I took my last dose in October 2010 and it was 150 mg. My last actual cycle was 12/16/2010 for a regular 7 days. I had a very very faint pink spot on 1/20/2011. I could hardly even see it. I've taken the home pregnancy test and have gotten either a negative test result or an invalid result. My cycle is 50 days late. Could I be pregnant? What are your recommendations??
Hi there, After going through your question, my opinion is that: 1) Missing periods can definitely indicate pregnancy. 2) Spotting can also occur when you are pregnant. 3) However, your urine pregnancy tests are all negative or invalid, so it is better to get a blood test called serum beta HCG to confirm. 4) Since your periods are 50 days late, you could also get a pelvic ultrasound done to find out about pregnancy and also to eliminate any other possible pathology. 5) So, to sum up, my suggestion is to get a blood test called serum beta HCG and a pelvic ultrasound done. I wish you all the best.
