Is A Delayed Period, Dull Aches, Headaches A Pregnancy Despite Negative Results?
I recently started a new bcp two months ago. The first month I had a regular period. I am currently a week past due and beginning a new pack of pills. I have taken two pregnancy tests that are negative. I have had dull aching that feels like I will start but dont. I have also had constant headaches (like I did with my second child) for over three weeks now. I took the pill at the same time daily and every day. Concerned about starting another pack. What are the chances I could be pregnant and its reading negative?
Hi there, I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.
1 ) First of all do not panic.
2 ) As you have taken birth control pills regularly, the chances of getting pregnant are almost nil.
If you still want to rule out the pregnancy, then I will suggest you to get morning's first sample of urine tested for pregnancy. In case of doubt blood beta HCG test and USG will be of help.
3 ) With negative pregnancy test results, you can very well start on the new pill pack or you can simply wait for the onset of periods and then restart the pills.
4 ) I will suggest you to take simple analgesic like paracetamol to manage your headache.
I hope this answer helps you. Thanks. Dr. Purushottam Neurgaonkar.
