Is A Dose Of Rabiar And Tetanus Sufficient After Dog Bite?

Day before yesterday (16 th june) A vaccinated dog has bitten my daughter who is 9 yrs . The wound is pretty deep on both sides of the wrist. She has been given one dose of rabiar vaccine and a dose of tetanus. Does she require any other vaccination( antibody) also. Also how to heal her wound quickly as its very painful?

Welcome to HCM

Single dose of anti-rabies vaccine is not at all sufficient for dog bite, even though if the bitten dog has been vaccinated.

Anti-rabies vaccine schedule is 0,3,7,14,21
1st dose on the day of bite,
2nd dose on day 3 of bite
3rd dose on day 7 of bite
4th dose on day 14 of bite
5th dose on day 21 of bite

Single dose of tetanus is sufficient.

You can use povidone ointment for local application on the bite site, which will help to heal quickly.
