Is A Red Discharge During The Pregnancy Normal?

Hello Doctor, I am 30 weeks 5 days pregnant, This is my second child, i had 2 miscarriages after my first child. I visited the doctor yesterday, though she didnt do an internal examination, she did press hard near my lower abdomen to see whether i was carrying low. Today , i have slight reddish colour discharge. I had low lying placenta in early pregnancy, now the placenta is mid segment. Is the red discharge normal?

Hello,
This sort of red discharge during pregnancy is not normal. At this stage, since you are sure the placenta is not located in the lower part of the uterus, the other possibility could be some erosion on the cervix, partial placental separation, vaginitis and so on. You need to report at once to your consultant, take bed rest preferably in left lateral position and avoid lifting weights. Please make note of the fetal movements, avoid stress, intercourse and take adequate liquids. Wish you safe motherhood.
