Is A Small Hole In The Socket Of Gum Post Wisdom Teeth Removal A Cause For Concern?

Hello, I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth out Wednesday morning and noticed that a stitch fell out. I didnt experience any bleeding or anything. Also, my bottom right socket has a small hole that has and I am afraid food will get in it. Are these things normal to experience? One last thing, my mom has been making me rice pourage. I have read online that you should avoid rice but this is rice that has been boiled to the point where you just swallow. Am I able to continue eating this or should I stop?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain if a stitch has fallen off then there is a possibility that you are seeing a hole that is your extraction socket that has not yet filled completely with the healing tissue and as the healing will proceed you will not see any hole or anything..

As you are taking over boiled rice it is fine as even if you eat anything else also small food particles may tend to get lodged into the hole..

You need not to worry and just follow proper instructions given to you by your dentist and always do warm saline rinses or at least gargle with water after eating anything to prevent it from lodging into the socket...

As other stitches are intact the healing will gradually proceed and will completely occur..

Rest when you will go for removal of stitches after a week the dentist will do a clinical evaluation and guide you further..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
