Is A Third Dose Of Aleve Advisable For Lower Back Pain?

Hi--I was at the gym doing a clean and press and my lower back gave out. The pain at first was immense, but then started to go away after I took 2 Aleve and a warm shower. I am headed to be and want to know if I can take a 3rd Aleve. Is this really bad? I never take pain killers, but I have a big day tomorrow and want to prepare. Thanks!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Overuse injuries are a very common source of lower back pain. I suggest you avoid the gym for a few days.

I also suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen three tablets a day.

I also recommend using ice compresses at the area of pain. If the symptoms continue I suggest doing an X-ray for further evaluation and specific treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
