Is Abstinence From Masturbation Required After Laparoscopic Surgery For Tubal Pregnancy?
Hi My wife had an ectopic pregnancy of 6 weeks and now it s almost 3 weeks from the laparoscopic surgery, in which doctors removed her right Fallopian tube due to tubal pregnancy. Doctor suggested to wait for 3 months before taking 2nd chance i.e. no sex for 3 months i think so. Now she is insisting for sex/sexual act and i am trying no to do for the sack for her health. Can she masturbate? is it safe for her now? For how long should she avoid masturbation from her surgery?
Waiting for 3 months before taking 2nd chance means your wife should not get pregnant in the next 3 months(some experts advice 6 months) that is she should complete at least 2 proper menstrual cycles before she becomes pregnant again. But that does not mean you should not have sex. Avoid penetrative sex for around 6 weeks from surgery. And after 6 weeks, choose a barrier method (condoms) as contraception for penetrative sex. Masturbation(clitorial) may resume at any time when your wife feels she has recovered from the pain and stress of surgery but refrain from penetrative sex for atleast 6 weeks.
