Is Altered Sense Of Smell Normal While Recovering From Upper Respiratory Infection?

I have had upper respiratory trouble for weeks. First, it was diagnosed as allergies, 40 mg prednisone was prescribed for one week. Next it was bronchitis, and antibiotics for one week. Now I am taking an inhaled steroid, Advair 2 p/d, it has moved from my chest to my sinuses. I have had an unproductive cough this whole time. Now I smell smoke all the time, but there is nothing burning. No one else near me smells smoke, and it follows me wherever o go. At home, work, in the car, in restaurants. This is odd. Are you familiar with this? YYYY@YYYY

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hi,

This inhaler causes side effects like candidiasis its an oral thrush kind of fungal infection which may lead to altered smell. Usually, you need to rinse mouth and gargle after using an inhaler. Kindly consult ENT specialist to examine and rule out fungal infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
