Is Amniotic Fluid Level Of 25cm During 33 Weeks Of Pregnancy Normal?
Hi, My daughter is completing 33 week of pregnancy tomorrow. He amniotic fluid level is 25cm or so. She is not diabetic however and no other problems So my question and worry is, is there a cause for alarm? Would be greatly obliged if you could provide me with your expertise.
Hi, Thank you Madam for posting in HCM. I understand your concern for your daughter. Amniotic fluid (liquor amnii) is the clear straw coloured liquid surrounding the fetus in the uterus. It is present in amniotic sac and plays a vital rile in the development of baby. It continues to increase until 34 to 36 weeks of pregnancy and goes down gradually until the time of delivery. At 33 weeks Amniotic Fluid Index (AFI) should be between 8 cm to 18 cm with mean of 14 cm. If it is more than 20 to 24, it is consifered as polyhydramnios. Hence the values mentioned by you is much more compared to normal indicating excess amniotic fluid. You need to take proper care and evaluation from Gynecologist in this regard. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
