Is An Enlarged And Loopy Jugular Vein A Cause For Concern?
My 8 year old has a jugular vein that has always appeared large when she strains. She was seen earlier today by her allergist for an asthma exacerbation. This evening when she coughs I am noticing her jugular vein to look very enlarged and loopy. Is this a concern?

Jugular vein becomes apparent in skinny people when straining or each time she coughs. That is not a concern.
You should concentrate on what's causing her to:
- strain: don't let her become angry
- be skinny (if she is skinny?)
- cough: treat allergy or cold she might have caught adequately
