Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a two lead pacemaker implanted because of tachybrady. Two weeks later I noticed jugular vein distention. The neck veins bulge when I bend over. Could this be caused by tricuspid regurgitation? Could the pm lead have interfered with the action of the valve?
I would like to explain that your statement is true. Jugular vein distension is a sign of venous congestion by high systemic venous pressure. It is usually associate with tricuspid regurgitation, and in your case it may be dealt with an important tricuspid regurgitation.
It is true that pacemaker right ventricle lead do contribute on tricuspid regurgitation.
I recommend you to perform a cardiac ultrasound and discuss with your attending cardiologist, to confirm the above issues.
Hope to have been helpful to you. Greetings! Dr. Iliri
