What Is The Treatment For Allergic Cough?

Hi Doctor, My son aged 12 yrs, is suffering from allergic cough for last 15 days. This is the 3rd year of allergic cough in this month (April) of the year. He has been nebulised with duolin and flowhale respules thrice daily. But cough is not going away. He is also been on dryphyline and citrizine for 5 days. Now doctor has given Wysolone 10 mg for 5 days. He has already taken two tablets in a day and supposed to take one daily for next four days. My question is, is there any side effect for a 5 days course of Wysolone if yes what they are? Also in future if he again suffer will any other drug help or again whysolone is required?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Wysolone 10 mg is a corticosteroid which si used for several medical conditions.
One of the conditions is severe allergic reaction.
A cycle of 5 days does not have any major side effects.
In the future he might use antihistamines instead of corticosteroids.
I recommend Cetirizine 10 mg.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
