I want to keep my uterus and ovaries- what treatements are there given the below findings? Findings: Ultrasonographic evaluation of the pelvis was performed transabdominally and endovaginally. The uterus measures 5.5 x 2.8 x 3.3 cm. A 5.3 x 4.8 x 5.2 cm anterior fundal subserosal fibroid is seen. The endometrial stripe measures 4.7 mm endovaginally. No free fluid is seen in the pelvis. The right ovary is normal in appearance measuring 2.2 x 1.4 x 1.9 cm. The left ovary is normal in appearance measuring 1.9 x 1.2 x 1.4 cm. Impression: Impression: 5.3 x 4.8 x 5.2 cm anterior fundal uterine fibroid. Endometrial stripe measuring 4.7 mm endovaginally slightly widened for a postmenopausal patient with bleeding.
The ultrasound pelvis shows presence of a 5 cm fibroid in anterior wall. Fibroid is a benign tumor arising from smooth muscles of uterus. Large fibroids can cause pain, heaviness, excessive bleeding and pressure symptoms. Fibroids usually shrink after menopause however, you may have it surgically removed after consulting your gynecologist.
