Is Any Operation For GERD Required For Some Erythema Epigastric And Small Erosions In The Distal Esophagus ?

Hi, I am just looking for my paper from my endoscopy done in 2010. The upper Gi revealed that it was some erythema epigastric and 2 small erosions in the distal esophagus. There were also some gastric erosions.

I was taking TECTA 40 mg for over 1 year and I still have the reflux and acid coming up. I switched to Omeprazol

20 mg wich is cheaper and I am buying fromEurope being very cheap $ 7 for 1 month Made in Germany but after a while I start to have the same problem. I don't eat in the evening. I am taking just 1 apple without skin which is allevieting the problem. I've done the test to see if I have high acidity or low acidity taking 2 days first thing in the morning 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and I don't have the burning sensation, only a mild heat to my stomach.When I eat solid food after my first bine I have a terible pain in my stomach and I have to drink some liquids. I am afraid of eating sometimes. Can you tell me if I need an operation even though I see that there are some side effects after any operation for GERD. Thank you

HI. Your last Endoscopy in 2010. You should go for a fresh endoscopy to know the exact diagnosis. It is better to spread the meals into 4 equal quantities and well spread over the awake period. Any food scents or anything which you must have noticed to increase the problem should be avoided. No spicy and hot food. No smoking ( you have not mentioned so) . Repeat endoscopy will help further management . Operation for GERD do have side effects. Needs to be done only when medications fail to stop your problem. In addition you can have Domperidone or Metocopropamide ( Reglan) at 8 hourly intervals.
