Is Baby Aspirin Enough To Avoid Blood Clots In Lungs During Pregnancy?
I am newly pregnant with my fourth child, and after my third -born via c-section after my second suffered a severe obstetric brachial plexus injury - I developed blood clots in both my lungs. I have no genetic factors for blood clots, just the surgery. My OB has me on baby aspirin and not Lovenox injections. Is this enough precaution? Thank you.
Pulmonary embolism (clots in your lungs) are very serious and can cause death. They also have a 3-4 fold risk for coming back again. Based on current U.S. recommendations you should be on prophylactic doses of heparin or Lovenox.
I recommend you consult with a high risk OB specialist about how to manage your anticoagulantion during and after your pregnancy.
I hope I adequately answered your question and best wishes for the rest of the pregnancy
