Is Being Sexual Active Even Though Having Mitral Valve Prolapse Safe?
I am a 36 year old woman and was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse with trace regurgitation 3 1/2 years ago. Is sex safe for me. I have been taking 12.5 mg of atenolol every day prescribed by my cardiologist. 25 mg makes my head feel warm and unbalanced. But the 12.5 mg seems to be keeping everything in order for the most part. I will have the occasional palpatations, heart racing, tightness of the chest. But in general, okay.

MVP with trace MR does not prohibit you from any kind of exercise /activity including sexual intercourse. If you are not symptomatic because of any other reason and can go two flights of stairs running without being breathless, you can have Coitus too.
