Is Biopsy Required For A Small Low Density Posterior Right Thyroid Lesion Measuring 1.7*0.9cm?

Hello Dr,

My question is I have 2 Nodes is 9mm in short axis on the left side.
Another 2 nodes on the right side 7mm. No cervical nodes of 1 CM or more in short axis dimensions are visible. According to the CT Scan Results.
There is A small low density posterior right thyroid lesion measuring
1.7x0.9 cm (cystic).

A few mildly prominent cervical nodes are visible. None measures 1cm or more in short axis dimension.

The Dr has required to do A Biopsy and ultra sound and I am A little concerned of doing biopsy. Please according to the results mentioned above would this be A concern and would you feel A Biopsy is necessary.

Thanks

Paul

Hi
CT and Ultrasound has its limitations in defining exact information. You need to do a fine needle biopsy to do a histological examinations. You dont need to be worried for this. Its needed for definite diagnosis in your condition.Hope this may help you.Let me know if you have any further query.
thanks.
