i had unprotected sex with my boyfriend on 3rd of January around 11 pm and took an i pill between 48 to 72 hours of sex . on 12th january i started bleeding(but its very light bleeding) and menstrual cramps and pain like as in periods ...i am not able to judge what it is.....as monthly date of my periods is 22 to 25th. so please guide me what could be the reason of this ? and what should i do now ? Thank you .
Hello, What you are experiencing is a withdrawal bleeding secondary to the use of the emergency pill. Since you have taken the pill within the stipulated time, you are amply protected. As the pill contains excess hormone, the hormonal balance of the body is disrupted and this causes a delay in the next normal period by a week or two. If you do not see your next normal period even after ten days after it is due, please see a specialist for further help. Hope this helps.
