Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
After several years of treating my mild hypertension with a beta-blocker (Atenolol)! my average blood pressure was 149/77. In the eight weeks since my doctor told me to discontinue this medication, my blood pressure has gradually climbed to 160/81. I am now 83. Is my blood pressure dangerously high?
You can recheck the blood pressure reading after two weeks. If it is persistently high, you have to consult a physician and make dose adjustments or start additional anti hypertensives.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
