Is Blood Pressure Of 188/111 A Cause For Concern?

My husband s b/p has been running high. Had his b/p medication doubled by his primary care physician about a week ago. His b/p right now is 188/111 right now. It states on the b/p monitor irregular heartbeat . I have tried to talk to him about going to the ER, he says no. He has had a heart attack previously and had stents.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

188 is a systolic blood pressure. Ideally, it should be 120 and more than 140 is a concern. 110 is a diastolic blood pressure. It should be ideally 90. It is also at an alarming stage and previous history of attack and stent clearly points out that you should take him to ER.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirav Nimavat
