Is Blood Pressure Of 93/47 A Cause For Concern?

Hi, I have been on blood pressure meds for many years for hypertension. Today while taking care of preparing a meal I felt very weak, with muddled thoughts, and extremely tired. I checked my BP and it was 93/47. I am a male aged 69. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Hello,

Yes, it is a matter of concern as blood pressure particularly diastolic is below 60mmHg. It can be due to:

Decreased activity of the heart. Loss of salts in the blood. It can cause:

Dizziness, difficulty in standing to the blurring of vision, loss of concentration I advise you don't worry but take :

1) Tea with salt.
2) Take fluids.
3) Don't do hard work.
4) Rest by keeping head low and feet high.

Record your pulse rate now and note it down.

After half hour check again blood pressure if it is not normal and if the pulse is below 50 per second consult nearby physician immediately so that your concerns can be properly addressed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
