Is Burning Sensation While Urination And Light Periods A Symptom Of STD?
I had unprotected sex a week ago. I have not taken birth control for two years since I have had no need for it and the sex was not planned nor expected. Since then I burn when I urinate and have started a very light period which is very uncommon for me. Am I at risk for an STD?
Hi there. I hear you & empathise with your particular issue. Agreed the sex may have been unplanned but do always use precautions irrespective more from the safety stand-point than any pregnancy issue. The burning it appears may be just a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) or what we commonly refer to as 'Honeymoon Cystitis' that is quite common after a long period of abstinence. Drink loads of water & perhaps a beer or two coupled with this (providing this advice does not affect your sentiments) to flush out the infection if any. Alternatively do a simple routine urine test & then treat it accordingly. Yes you would be at risk for an STD anytime you have unprotected sex that is not monogamous or within the realms of a committed relationship &/or marriage. So Do always practice "Safe Sex' Please.
