Is Calcified Granuloma And Bilateral Ethmoid A Serious Disease?
I ve recently got my CT done due to head ache. 1) CT shows that Calcific speck in theright anterior temporal lobe with no sorrounding edema-? Calcified granuloma 2) Bilateral ethmoid, maxillary and right frontal sinusitis please advice. is it serious?
Hello and welcome to HCM, The CT scan of the head and face area shows evidence of inflammation of maxillary, ethmoid and frontal sinuses. Sinuses are air filled spaces in the skull bones. Infection/ inflammation of the sinuses leads to symptoms of malaise, nasal stuffiness, etc. Sinusitis is treated by antibiotics. The presence of a calcified lesion in the temporal lobe is most probably due to a granuloma. However, calcification is the end stage of granulomatous infection and symptoms are also rara eat this syage. The disease cannot be detected by any tests at this stage. You need to stay in touch with your doctor for further management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
