doctor has given my son candibiotic ear drops for fungal treatment of ear. his age is forteen months.3 drops twice daily for 5 days . now new symptoms occured . white fluid is running out of the ear. i have read that candibiotic ear drops are not suitable for children under 6 years.please advice .
Hello, Fungal infection in children is less common, still ear drops should be avoided as much as possible. You should get the ear suction cleaned and then put merocel ear pack and on which ear drops can be put if at all necessary . otherwise ear suction cleaning is itself enough .on cleaning the ear canal the debris can be suctioned and removed. You can discuss with your doctor. Its actually your doctor who can decide the best treatment as he has examined and not me who has not. so i think you must believe your doctor and if in doubt take 2 nd opinion by getting your child examined by other ENT specialist. We are always here to clear any doubt , or give our opinion . In doubt do reply.
