Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My boyfriend has cellulitis he is in the army and needs to pick up asap but can t because he has an open wound. he has gotten antibiotics but he needs it to heal!! he is thinking about cauterizing it...Could it help to close the wound without being to damaging would the infection now just be inside and would they now have to open the wound even with the antibiotics
Closing the wound is always best, and if a sterile method of closing the wound is possible then I highly recommend it. Antibiotics should take care of the rest, but only if he doesnt seem to be responding to the antibiotics by displaying symptoms like rise in temperature, poor wound healing visual signs, pus drainage, etc. then it would be best to open the wound and surgically debride and clean the region and then close it up.
Best wishes.
