Is Chlamydia A STD?

Hi, I'm a male who is not currently sexually active. I recently entered a relationship. She told me that she was currently taking antibiotics for Chlamydia. My question is this: If she has finished her antibiotics, and I give her oral sex, can I get chlamydia.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

It is unlikely that you could get chlamydia from your sexual partner after she has completed her antibiotic course. The antibiotic course usually extends for 1 week in case of chlamydia infection
As a part of strategy to prevent transmission to sexual partners it is advisable to avoid sexual contact for at least one week till the patient is on Oral antibiotics.
Thereafter there are no restrictions, in terms of risk of acquiring chlamydia, from getting sexually involved with her provided she does not re-acquire the infection from someone who already has the infection.
