Is Circumcision The Only Option To Treat Paraphimosis?
Paraphimosis I have it and all the causes makes no sense, I have always did good hygene and kept the area both clean and stretched but now there is a very small opening with no way to extract the foreskin this has gotten worse over the last 6 months? Is circumsism the only option?

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM, Paraphimosis is a condition in which the foreskin becomes trapped behind the corona and forms a tight band of constricting tissue. Paraphimosis can be prevented by returning the prepuce to cover the glans by penile manipulation.
There are various methods for management of Paraphimosis 1.Reducing the penile edema and restoring the prepuce to its original position. 2.Manual pressure to reduce edema 3.Injection of hyaluronidase into the edematous prepuce to reduce the edema. 4.Puncturing with needle to reduce edematous prepuce.
If the Paraphimosis is very severe and cannot be managed by above measures then we will go for circumcision. Thank you.
