Is D-dimer Value Of 2.12 Ug/mL A Cause For Concern?
I had a d-dimer test come back at 2.12 ug/mL. I had a clear CT and ultrasound of legs was normal. I had a slight fever of 99 when it was done. Could that be the cause of the d-dimer results? I had been having some mild chest pain and was getting winded with mild exertion. I m a 25 y/o female. I m a worrier!
Hello, Thanks for the query. D-Dimer is a test to look for pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis(DVT). However it can falsely increase ( false positive) results when there is an infection. In your case the D-Dimer Is at the border line but there is nothing to worry as ultrasound leg and CT scan has been ruled out embolism and DVT. The slightly high value may be due to associated fever and it is not significant. Hope I have answered your query. Thanks
