Is Dark Yellow Urine A Sign Of Renal Failure?

Hello Dr

My bedridden 82 year old mum has incontenence and her urine has recently developed a dreadful smell and is dark yellow and slimy Are these signs of renal failure or organ breakdown? She is losing weight and is very frail. Thankyou so much for your time

hello ... with the information provided by you....
1. considering her age her immune (protective) mechanisms might have been lowered which makes her prone to infections
2. the weight loss and frailness might suggest that she is becoming sick
3. the urinary changes suggest a urinary tract infection but not necessarily failure..
the next thing you can do is to do a urine sampling to confirm or disprove a kidney related issue.... further evaluation needs a bit more of her medical history and clinical correlation.....
hope this helps you...
