Is Depression A Side Effect Of Losartan?

I ve been on 100 mg of Losartan for about 6 years. I also have had signs of depression and wonder if this medication is a contributor. Sometimes I m ok, other times I m not. When feeling depressed I feel down in mood, I wake up during the night and hard to sleep. I also feel so down in my chest, like an ache, and feeling similar to having lost a loved one and want to cry. It is an awful feeling, I had that for several hours today but feeling somewhat better now. Can Losartan give me that kind of mood swing?

Losartan can be associated with side effects like any medication but it is not commonly known to cause depression , this is a rare possible side effects so it may not be the cause for you.

You should consider seeing your doctor for an assessment to determine the cause.
There is treatment that can effectively treat depression.

This would include counselling and medication. There are different types of medication that can be used. There should be one that would be effective for you.
