Thank you for your query.

Would you please clarify a few things for me?
1) why were you on levothyroxine? are you a hypothyroid?
2) what treatment were you in for hepatitis C and were you hospitalized? if so, for how long ? and what did the doctors say about your recovery?
3) By " out of whack", do you mean that the values indicated an overactive thyroid?
4) what were your most recent Thyroid function tests values?(TSH, FREE T3,T4)?
5) how long have you been feeling depressed?
6) could you describe an ordinary day in your life for me? include your routine activities and those that you do for leisure and recreation as well.

Depression has varying degrees and symptoms.
Yes, an under active thyroid can make you feel lethargic and have low energy which combined with other factors may lead to depression.
some amount of depression is normal, especially after an illness, that too a chronic one. it should pass in some time
clinically significant depression, however, needs medical attention as this can affect quality of life significantly.

The first step is realising and acknowledging that you may be depressed. Second is to seek help. Next would be to get an expert opinion and treatment, if necessary. Therapy, self help groups can significantly help as well.
You are already halfway through the process.
I recommend you take the next one and see you physician. If thyroid values indicate hypothyroidism, levothyroxine will gradually help.

hope you feel better.
wish you good health. please let us know if you have further questions
