Is Diarrhea Possible Along With Menstrual Cycle Along With Bowel Movements And Stomach Pain?
My question involves menstral cycle for teens. I know through experience bowel movements can change and become more requent and different or looser during periods. Is it possible to develop diarahera regularly with menstral cycles to the point where you can't leave the bathroom for two days and the symptoms are strong enough to resemble a stomach bug?

Hi. Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.
The uterine contraction during periods is influenced by hormones and prostaglandins (PG). Prostaglandin is an autacoid and there are many types of PGs from A to I. Of these PGE and F cause uterine contraction. The same PGs also increase intestinal motility (movement). This is the reason for diarrhea that occurs during menstruation.
But such an increased bowel movements should also be accompanied by severe uterine cramps but you have made no mention of it. Nevertheless, you try an NSAID like Mefanamic acid along with Ranitidine. Mefanamic acid acts selectively on uterus and reduces the amount of PG production.
Light meals during period will help. Avoid fat and greasy food. Also avoid junk food.Take fruits and oat meal. Take adequate rest and avoid stress.
I hope this is useful to you.
