Is Discontinuation Of Trileptal Safe After Long Term Usage?

Since 2004 I took Trileptal,,, you think that I can stop taking? I Had an accident, I fall and I had a concussion in my head so since that moment I have seizusers until 2010 but with medicadication. And I afraid because the seizures didn t advice me nothing. Thanks, Lillian Rivera

trileptal cannot be stopped suddenly without talking to your doctor.any anti epileptic drug is stopped suddenly it will lead to occurance of seizures that will not stop called as status epilepticus which is a medical emergeny that is not attended in time may lead to even death also.suddenly stopping trileptal will cause somnolence , vomiting , ataxia , diplopia , dizziness , fatigue , nystagmus .it is prescribed by the physician when the benefits of taking the drug are more than the risk involved in taking it.you can stop the drug under the guidance of neurologist who can suggest alternate medicine for it and also how to gradually tapper the trileptol.
