Is Drinking Beer Safe After Taking Ativan?

Hi there, I was given two ativans (i don t know the dosages) today, within a half hour of each other, as by the time the doctor was ready to proceed with my procedure the first one seemed to have worn off. I feel calm and and a bit clumsy right now but nothing too serious. I am staying with family and as my doctor is out of town and we were thinking of going out for some dinner. I was wondering you think it would be okay if I were to have a beer with dinner or if I should hold off.

I appreciate your concern regarding the safety of Ativan while taking beer.
I am of the opinion that since Ativan and alcohol (beer) are known to depress the brain function producing drowsines, clumsiness, etc.
So, if beer is consumed in the presence of Ativan, the depression can be more severe to the extent of causing difficulty in breathing, impaired consciousness, etc.
So you are advised to refrain from taking beer or any other alcoholic containing beverages as long as you continue to take Ativan or similar drugs.
