Is Ear Pain And Swollen Lymph Sign For Allergy?

extreme ear pain and swollen lymph node on my right side. On Z-pak for 3 days now and no relief. Doctor says she doesn t see an infection and it could possibly be allergies. Ear pain is so severe when I swallow, yawn, or cough. Can this really be allergies?

Hi, thank you for posting your query in health care magic.

Severe pain in you ear along with lymph node enlargement is suggestive more of an ear infection as compared to allergy.

You have taken Z pack for 3 days.It is an antibiotic (Azithromycin).

You need to consult an Otolaryngologist doctor for examination of your ear and neck.He/She would probably start broad spectrum antibiotic (like Augmentin),Analgesic(like Ibuprofen),Antacid (like Rantac),Antihistaminic(like Cetrizine),and antibiotic ear drop or cream if there is an ear infection.
