Is Electrical Cardioversion Procedure Safe For Elderly?

My Mom is 89 and has A-Fib we discovered it about 3 months ago, who knows how long she has had it, she ended up in the hospital with breathlessness and they told her she had congestive heart failure, she also had fluid in her lungs. Since being home she is much better but still tires easily. Her cardiologist just recommedned she have the electrical cardioversion to try and get her heart back to a normal rythum. I just read it most likely would occur again in someone her age and with chronic heart failure. Is is a risk for Mom to have this proceedure done at her age.

Electric Cardioversion is done to after all alternatives fail e.g medical Cardioversion. So I think you should comply with the cardiologist's decision. We have to keep in mind a lot of different scenarios in this case which is all in her treating doctor.
