Is Exposure To Mold Spores The Cause For Shingles?
https://www.healthtap.com/user_questions/531600 How serious is a count of 3100 /m3 of aspergillius/penicillium in one room of a home. There are 2 adults and 3 children (6 months old; 2 years old and 10 years old) The younger children had been sleeping in that room. The next highest mold spore is Bispora at 200 /m3 The room s door is now shut and the family is living in the rest of the smaller 3 BD home. Is this safe ? Total levels of ALL mold spores for the house as air tested are 3680 /m3 in the bedroom; 570 /m3 in the kitchen and 170 /m3 in the bathroom. Remediation will be taking place - the suspect is a leaking window, but will not know til the wall is opened up. Could this have caused the 2 year old to contract SHINGLES - 9 months after having his chicken pox vaccine? Thank You ! Joanne
No,exposure to mold does not cause shingles.Mold or fungi causes fungal infections whereas shingles is caused by a virus. The same virus that causes chickenpox (the varicella-zoster virus) causes shingles. People can also get shingles after getting the chickenpox (varicella) vaccine since most vaccines may not be 100 percent effective.
