General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. The opinion that flatfoot is incurable is not true.Usually no treatment is given if flatfoot is without symptoms like pain and discomfort. If pain is there then orthotic devises or arch supports are designed and worn. But it should be used life long.Surgical correction is now performed but costly and time consuming.Different surgical procedures like medial calcaneal osteotomy or lateral column lengthening are performed.Physiotherapy and controlled weight bearing will be needed for some time. You can approach an experienced orthopedic surgeon for this.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
