Is Fluctuating Heart Rate While Exercising At The Age Of 71 A Cause For Concern?

Yes, I m 71 and I wir out 5 to 6 days a week with weights and yoga and walking. I ve been on a treadmill the last few weeks and my heart rate starts out around 112 and goes up and down between 124 to 140 but on the average it s about 128. Sometimes it spikes for a quic second to 145 and it goes immediately down. I ve also had it go to 70. I don t know how to tell where I should be?

Greetings! Answer : Its good to see that your still active and and doing the work outs! usually heart rates fluctuates during exercise and it is not a concern to worry about! as long as you feel energetic keep your exercise up! and sometimes the machines cannot be very predictable in measuring heart while your exercise. i would suggest you to with hold treadmill if u feel any kind of discomfort in your heart or any kind of breathing difficulty and get regular ECG done!
